Compare gas tariffs in the UK

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Compare gas prices only. See the Ofgem cap for your region next to fixed gas tariffs, with the unit rate and daily standing charge for each, then go direct to the supplier.

What makes up a gas bill

You pay a unit rate for each kWh of gas you use and a standing charge for every day you're connected. For October–December 2026 the Ofgem cap for gas is 7.97p/kWh plus 29.68p a day (direct debit, GB average).

Gas meters measure cubic metres or cubic feet; your supplier converts that into kWh on your bill using a calorific value.

Comparing a fixed gas deal

Check the unit rate and the standing charge separately against the cap for your region. A low unit rate with a high standing charge can cost more if you use little gas, for example in a small flat or in summer.

Look at the exit fee and the end date. You can usually leave without a fee in the last 49 days of a fixed deal.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get gas from a different supplier to my electricity?

Yes. You can buy gas and electricity separately, though some suppliers only offer certain tariffs as dual fuel.

Do gas prices vary by region?

Yes. Standing charges and unit rates differ across Great Britain, so compare using the rate for your region.

How do I find my gas usage?

Your annual statement or online account shows your yearly kWh. A typical medium-use home uses around 11,500kWh of gas a year.
